School of Integrated Circuits of SEU, established in December, 2003, has shouldered the responsibility of constructing a talent cultivating base. In 2004, IC School began to enroll the academic master and master of engineering; in 2007, IC School was approved to offer PhD programs; and in 2008, the Suzhou Research Institute of SEU began to enroll masters of Software Engineering (Microelectronics Direction); afterwards in 2009, a cultivating base for postgraduate professional degree education was set up in Wuxi branch of SEU. In January 2007, School of Microelectronics has undertaken the construction of national integrated circuit training base, which was appointed as an excellent base in periodical inspection by Ministry of Education.In 2015,the Ministry of Education formally approved the construction of National Model Institute of Microelectronics of Southeast University(a total of 9). In order to better cultivate high-level microelectronics innovative entrepreneurial talent, approved by Southeast University, "School of Integrated Circuits" officially changed its name to "School of Microelectronics".
Depending on the advanced teaching and research facilities of School of Electronic Science and Engineering, School of Information Science and Engineering, National ASIC System Engineering Research Center and Institute of RF-&OE-ICs, School of Microelectronics has a high-level faculty containing more than 60 professors, 50 associate professors and 40 Ph.D.supervisors, 1 member of Chinese Academy of Engineering and 5 specialists of “National 863 Program”. Meanwhile, School of Microelectronics respectively established the laboratories in Nanjing, Wuxi, Suzhou, realizing the joint training program. In addition, the School actively employed well-known expert professors at home and abroad to offer lectures and participate in school construction. In recent years, through the cooperative partnership with such international famous information groups and companies as CR Microelectronics, JCET, PEG, Cadence, ARM and University of Stuttagart, it has established plenty of practice bases for students.
School of Microelectronics strives for meeting the requirements of national construction, adapting to the progress of science and technology, cultivating all-round science and technology talents, so as to cater the national huge talent gap in the field of integrated circuit. During the PhD and master study, students can be recommended to attend collaborative exchanges in the United States, Japan, Singapore, Germany, France, Italy, Taiwan, Hong Kong and other places. Besides, IC School encourages outstanding students to publish international academic conference papers and convene for many times high-level international academic conferences.
The school attaches great importance to the cultivation of basic theories and professional skills, with particular emphasis on student's practical ability, innovative ability and learning ability. Owning to solid professional knowledge, stronger practical ability and good comprehensive quality, graduates have gained high praise of employing units including domestic and foreign telecommunication operators, electric power institutes, defense institutes, research institutes, high-technology enterprises, and colleges & universities, and the employment rate reached 100%.
